Summary of the Book
Tintin, a Belgian reporter, travels to the USSR to cover a story. Mistaken for a saboteur as his train is blown apart, he is arrested and taken to a torture chamber. Escaping using his sharp wit, Tintin quickly unravels that the Soviet Union is merely a sham, the progress that the communists show foreign visitors is an illusion and the real scene is one of oppression and cruelty. However to take the story home, Tintin must escape the land of the Soviets. Something even he will be hard pressed to do as the authorities have issued a manhunt for him.
