Summary of the Book
Regional Folktales of India comprises of the classic Indian folk tales from different regions, which have been transmitted through many generations orally. Folktales from Orissa, Gujarat, Bengal, Maharashtra and Garhwal (now the Uttarakhand state) are all used in the compilation of these five books. The stories include fictional human characters and also the characters from the religious epics. These books are compiled by Anant Pai and is a collection of such stories enriched with all human emotions, that they never fail to convey moral messages of one sort or the other. Since the collection includes stories from different parts of India, children will be introduced to a glimpse of history, life styles and cultures of these different regions as well. This collection of books still continue to carry in it the proud folk literature legacy of India.
